Amanda began her human services career in 2001, as a direct caregiver for The Arc of East Central Iowa In 2005, she became the program director overseeing an after school program along with coordinating weeknight and weekend recreation activities and community inclusion opportunities. She worked part time as a community living assistant with Discovery Living from 2007 – 2011. In 2009, Amanda started as a direct caregiver for Options of Linn County until she transitioned to a Case Manager position in 2012 with Linn County MHDD. She then transitioned to United Health Care as a Case Manager. In July of 2019, Amanda returned to Discovery Living as a community living coordinator.
Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Northern Iowa in 2005. She continued her education and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services from Upper Iowa University in 2011.
